Defense Contractor Competition Act
Sponsored By: Representative Deluzio, Christopher R. [D-PA-17]
Introduced
Summary
Would require the Comptroller General to assess whether mergers and acquisitions among defense contractors harm competition and the defense industrial base. The review would look at deals from the ten years before enactment and must evaluate four things: how merger remedies affect competition and industrial-base sustainability; how the Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Secretary of Defense share information during merger reviews; how the Secretary of Defense measures vertical integration including data collection and access from contractors; and how prior Comptroller General, Defense Department, or Defense Science Board recommendations to boost competition have been implemented. The Comptroller General would send the report to the congressional defense committees.
