Promoting American Competition in Aquaculture Research Act
Sponsored By: Representative Tokuda, Jill N. [D-HI-2]
In Committee
Summary
Would reauthorize $15.0 million a year for aquaculture assistance for FY2026–2030. It would also allow awards under that subtitle to use the standard indirect cost limit in section 1462 instead of being subject to the prohibition in section 1473.

More aquaculture grant money and overhead
If enacted, the bill would authorize $15,000,000 per year for fiscal years 2026 through 2030 for aquaculture assistance programs. This is an authorization only and does not appropriate the money. It would also change indirect cost rules for awards under that subtitle so the limit in section 1462 would apply and the limit or prohibition in section 1473 would not apply. That change would let research institutions, producers, and aquaculture businesses recover overhead on grants within the usual indirect cost limits.
