CTE Student Mental Health and Wellness Act
Sponsored By: Representative Langworthy, Nicholas A. [R-NY-23]
Introduced
Summary
Expands mental health and substance use disorder grant eligibility to include area career and technical education (CTE) schools. This bill would amend the Public Health Service Act to replace every reference to "institution of higher education" with "covered institution" and define "covered institution" to include both area career and technical education schools and institutions of higher education so CTE programs can apply for the same federal mental health and SUD grants.

CTE schools and colleges could get mental health grants
This bill would let area career and technical education (CTE) schools apply for the same federal grants that colleges can get for mental health and substance use services. If enacted, CTE students and staff could see more counseling, peer support, and crisis help on campus. Colleges would still be eligible too. The bill does not set an effective date or new funding amounts.
