Same-day voter registration for federal elections

This bill would require states to let eligible voters register or update registration at the polling place and vote the same day. It would apply on Election Day and on any day when early voting is offered for federal races. You would use a registration form that meets National Voter Registration Act rules. States with no voter registration at all, under a law unchanged since enactment, would be exempt. The rule would start with the November 2026 general election, and federal enforcement under existing voting law would apply after that.
