More VA coverage for Karshi Khanabad veterans
If enacted, this bill would treat many illnesses as caused by military service for veterans who served at Karshi Khanabad Air Base, Uzbekistan. It would add presumptions that a long list of conditions are service-connected, including any cancer; thyroid, bone, heart, skin, nerve, reproductive, lung, endocrine, liver, or kidney disease; blood and immune disorders; medically unexplained chronic multisymptom illness; and cataracts. If you served there and have one of these conditions, you would likely find it easier to get VA disability pay and VA health care. The bill says these presumptions apply in addition to diseases already listed elsewhere in law. The text includes no effective date, sunset, or new funding amounts.
