Membership and funding to World Health Organization on hold
This bill would block any federal money from being used to join or pay the World Health Organization. The block would last until the Secretary of State certifies to Congress that all eight conditions are met. Conditions include depoliticized aid; no control or coverup by the Chinese Communist Party; and observer status for Taiwan. They also include no diversion of supplies to Iran, North Korea, or Syria, and stronger transparency and anti-fraud checks. The WHO would have to stop funding, engagement, and messaging on gender identity and what it calls harmful rhetoric about gender-affirming care, climate change, and access to abortion. As a condition of U.S. membership, WHO directives would not be legally binding on citizens or states. The ban would begin upon enactment and end only after certification.
