Promoting Diplomacy with Australia Act
Sponsored By: Representative Amo, Gabe [D-RI-1]
Introduced
Summary
This bill would force a rapid assessment of the United States Mission in Australia to identify capacity gaps and the resources needed for planned growth. It would require the Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs to submit, within 30 days after enactment, an unclassified report with an optional classified annex. The report must detail staffing increases planned for 2025–2030, interagency expansion, the additional administrative and operational support systems needed including use of the International Cooperative Administrative Support Services system, recommended facilities and staffing, and the funding required to meet those recommendations. It must also analyze resource gaps that could undermine U.S. objectives including the U.S.-Australia alliance and the AUKUS partnership.
