Detailed U.S. fertilizer industry report
This bill would require the Secretary of Agriculture to publish a public report on the U.S. fertilizer industry. The Secretary would prepare the report in consultation with the Administrator of the Economic Research Service. It would have to be posted on the Department of Agriculture website not later than 1 year after enactment. The report would cover ten topics, including 25 years of market size and price history, imports and origins, and supply-chain risks. It would also study industry concentration, compare new fertilizer technologies to conventional ones, and review regulatory burdens. The report would evaluate creating a multi-level fertilizer price reporting system and recommend whether Congress should establish it. It would not include confidential business information.
