Diabetes care grants in underserved communities

If enacted, this would fund grants to public and nonprofit providers in medically underserved urban and rural areas. Eligible groups would include community organizations, health centers, rural health clinics, and State, local, or Tribal health departments. Grantees would need to provide routine diabetes care, prevention education, eye and foot care, and treatment for kidney disease and other complications, with culturally and language-appropriate services. They would also need to do outreach, and the Secretary would spread funds fairly across regions and between urban and rural needs. Congress could provide money for fiscal years 2026 through 2031 in amounts later set by appropriations.
