Public directory for CHAMPVA providers
This bill would require entities that run CHAMPVA networks to ask each in-network provider once a year if they accept CHAMPVA assignment. The first queries and results would be due to the VA within 90 days of enactment. The VA would use those results and other information to publish a public directory of providers that accept CHAMPVA within 180 days and keep it updated. The VA would also report to Congress no later than one year after enactment and then yearly for four more years, with counts and percentages by State and by VISN and areas that lack CHAMPVA-accepting providers. The bill defines "accept assignment" to mean the provider agrees to accept the CHAMPVA-allowed payment as full payment.
