Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Agencies must update rule thresholds

If enacted, the Fed, the Comptroller of the Currency, and the FDIC would review certain rules by June 30, 2026 and every five years after. They would find any numeric thresholds set by rule for enhanced prudential standards and adjust them using the same GDP ratio and rounding method as the statute. Agencies should try to use the same thresholds across agencies and must send a report to Congress describing changes.

Automatically raise bank size limits

If enacted, this bill would make certain statutory asset-size limits rise automatically based on U.S. current-dollar GDP. The adjustment ratio would use Department of Commerce GDP figures and compare recent GDP to the year before April 1, 2026. The first calculation is due by April 1, 2031 and then every five years. New rounded amounts must be published by April 5 in adjustment years and would take effect January 1 after the calculation year. Big amounts (≥ $100 billion) would round up to the nearest $50 billion; smaller amounts round up to the nearest $5 billion.

Raise current bank size thresholds

If enacted, the bill would immediately raise several statutory asset-size cutoffs. Examples: $10 billion thresholds would become $15 billion. $100 billion thresholds would become $150 billion. $250 billion thresholds would become $370 billion. $50 billion thresholds would become $75 billion. The Federal Reserve Act assessment range would change from $100–$250 billion to $150–$370 billion. These changes would take effect upon enactment.
