Show full summary
- Active-duty families: Service members and their dependents would get TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select coverage for fertility diagnosis and treatments, including IVF, egg and sperm retrieval, preservation, and artificial insemination. The bill allows up to 3 completed oocyte retrievals per calendar year and generally requires single-embryo transfers unless medical guidelines say otherwise.
- Military health system: The Department of Defense would establish a fertility-treatment coordination program to ensure timely care and provide training and support for community health care providers about the unique needs of military families.
- Rules, limits, and timing: Cost-sharing would follow existing TRICARE rules and no waiting periods could be imposed after an infertility diagnosis. The bill bars use of DoD funds for preimplantation genetic screening, human cloning, international surrogacy, and artificial womb technology, and it applies to services provided on or after October 1, 2027.

TRICARE fertility coverage for troops
If enacted, TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select would cover fertility-related care for active duty members and their dependents starting October 1, 2027. Coverage would include diagnosis and treatments such as IVF, egg and sperm retrieval, preservation, and insemination. For IVF, up to three completed oocyte (egg) retrievals could be furnished per calendar year. Single embryo transfers would be required unless a doctor following American Society for Reproductive Medicine guidelines says otherwise. Cost-sharing would follow regular TRICARE rules based on the kind of care, and the Secretary could not impose waiting periods after a medical diagnosis of infertility. Department of Defense funds would not be allowed to pay for preimplantation genetic screening, human cloning, international surrogacy, or artificial womb technology. The bill would also exclude this fertility-related care from contracts covering former members and their dependents.
Fertility care coordination for military families
If enacted, the Department of Defense would set up a program to coordinate fertility-related care starting October 1, 2027. The program would aim to ensure timely fertility care for active duty members and their dependents. It would require training and support for community health care providers about the unique needs of military families.
