Argentina Bailout Oversight Act

Sponsored By: Representative Velázquez, Nydia M. [D-NY-7]

Introduced

Summary

A public GAO study and report on Argentina's 2025 financial crisis would require the Government Accountability Office to analyze how the crisis began and what role the United States and international partners played. The study would cover the crisis' origins, what the U.S. government and the International Monetary Fund knew and advised, the U.S. and international response including the terms of any U.S. assistance, the Treasury's authority to use the Exchange Stabilization Fund for assistance, and Argentina's recovery efforts, and GAO would deliver the report to the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee and post it on its website within 18 months.
