More burial help for veterans' families

If enacted, you would be able to apply for a VA burial allowance when a veteran dies at home or another non-institutional setting while receiving hospice care under 38 U.S.C. §1717(a). The hospice care must have been directly preceded by VA hospital care or VA nursing home care described in clause (ii) subclauses (I)–(III). If enacted, survivors who otherwise meet burial allowance rules would receive the allowance in these home-based hospice death cases. The amendment would take effect as if included in Public Law 116-315 (the 2020 veterans law).
