Show full summary
- Federal agencies would be tasked directly. The Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management would each complete separate value studies for covered areas under their jurisdiction.
- Private contractors may do the work. Each study may be carried out through contracts with private entities, creating contracting opportunities tied to the valuation effort.
- Defines where and what gets studied. Onshore coverage includes national monuments designated after 1999, areas of critical environmental concern, and lands withdrawn from mining laws. Offshore coverage includes marine national monuments, withdrawn offshore areas, and moratorium areas. Studies cover crude oil, natural gas, and locatable minerals.
