More family leave for VA employees
This bill would treat a covered Department of Veterans Affairs employee's spouse's parent as the employee's 'parent' for family and medical leave. That would make some VA employees eligible for leave to care for a spouse's parent under 5 U.S.C. 6382(a)(1)(C). It would apply even if 38 U.S.C. 7421 or any other law says otherwise. The bill would use the definitions of 'employee' and 'parent' from 5 U.S.C. 6381 and covers VHA full-time staff listed in 38 U.S.C. 7421(b).
