More DHS use-of-force transparency
If enacted, the bill would require the Secretary of Homeland Security to give two congressional committees all DHS records about serious use-of-force incidents. It would cover officer or agent shootings on or after January 20, 2025 that wound or kill someone, and any death in DHS custody on or after that date. DHS would have 30 calendar days after enactment to deliver unredacted videos, reports, communications, training materials, photos, and disciplinary files. If DHS redacts anything, the Secretary would have to provide a written legal justification naming the law relied upon.
