Public and Private Sector Ransomware Response Coordination Act of 2025
Sponsored By: Representative Nunn, Zachary [R-IA-3]
Introduced
Summary
Strengthen public-private coordination on ransomware response for financial institutions. This bill would require the Secretary of the Treasury to produce within one year an unclassified report, which may include a classified annex, reviewing how government agencies and private cybersecurity and ransomware response entities coordinate with financial institutions on prevention and response. The report would assess whether agencies receive timely, useful incident reports, analyze current reporting rules, identify why institutions might delay or withhold reporting, gather feedback from response firms, recommend policies to boost information sharing and speed responses, and the Secretary would brief the House Financial Services Committee, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence within 15 months.
