Higher Medicare payments for outpatient surgery

If enacted, Medicare payments to ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) would get an annual update starting in 2027. The update would equal the outpatient department fee-schedule increase factor for each year, with the statute's usual adjustments. The bill would prohibit the Secretary from applying any adjustment designed to keep total ASC spending the same. The Secretary would also have to count spending under the revised ASC payment system when calculating future budget adjustments.
