Training grants for substance use jobs

If enacted, the bill would allow new grants under the national dislocated worker program. Those grants would fund training and jobs tied to substance use prevention and treatment, including addiction care, mental health treatment, and pain management. You would be eligible if you are a dislocated worker or a long-term unemployed person. You would also be eligible if you are unemployed or underemployed because of widespread substance use in your area, or if you work in or want a health job treating substance use disorders. Grants would target areas where high levels of substance use create demand that state and local resources cannot meet. This would take effect upon enactment.
