Grant and more free entry at 9/11 Museum
This bill would create a one-time grant of $5 million to $10 million for the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The Department of Homeland Security would award it for operations, security, and maintenance only. Congress would need to approve the money in advance. The Secretary would choose the amount based on need, visitor numbers, education plans, and access for low-income visitors. If the nonprofit operator meets the criteria, the grant would be awarded within 90 days of a complete application. The museum would give free admission to active and retired service members, registered 9/11 first responders, and victims’ families. It would also offer free public hours at least once each week, allow annual federal audits made public, and send Congress a spending report within 90 days after each fiscal year with grant activity.
