Protect student records from immigration

If enacted, schools and education agencies would be barred from giving education records or other student information to immigration enforcement. This would be allowed only if a parent gives written consent. That consent would have to say which records or information are shared, the reasons for the release, and who will receive them. Schools would have to give parents a copy of the records to be released, and give the student a copy if the parents want. Agencies that keep a policy or practice of sharing such information could lose federal education funds. This would take effect upon enactment.
