Limits on civics grant content and priority

If enacted, the bill would bar any funds for the American History and Civics grant subpart from being used for "discriminatory equity ideology" or "gender ideology." It would also stop the Secretary of Education from giving grant priority based on race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or immigration status. That priority ban would apply to an eligible entity's identity or purpose, the people who control or work for it, the people it serves, and the activities proposed. The bill would define the two banned terms by citing section 2 of Executive Orders 14190 (90 Fed. Reg. 8853) and 14168 (90 Fed. Reg. 8615).
