New PTSD treatment option for veterans
If enacted, the bill would require the VA to provide stellate ganglion block (SGB) therapy to certain veterans with PTSD. You would be eligible if you are enrolled in the VA patient enrollment system under 38 U.S.C. §1705, have a PTSD diagnosis, and elect SGB after a qualified provider explains the risks and benefits. The VA could furnish SGB at a VA medical facility or through a provider designated under 38 U.S.C. §1703(c). The amendment creating coverage would take effect 180 days after enactment. The VA would also have 180 days after enactment to update the VA/DoD PTSD clinical guideline to list SGB and include clinical indicators and contraindications, and then notify the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees.
