Interior Secretary takes over Authority

If enacted, the Secretary of the Interior would take over all administrative responsibilities and jurisdiction assigned to “the Secretary” under the Indian Tribal Regulatory Reform and Business Development Act of 2000 with respect to the Authority. The transfer would take effect on the date of enactment of the Tribal Regulatory Reform Implementation Act of 2026. The bill does not provide new funding, change eligibility, or create programs. Tribal governments, regulated businesses, and others who work with the Authority would see any operational or procedural changes depending on how Interior implements the duties.
