More gun-free protection for preschools

If enacted, this bill would expand the federal Gun‑Free School Zones Act 'school' definition. It would add early childhood education programs defined in HEA section 103 (20 U.S.C. 1003). It would add preschools defined in HEA section 428K(g) (20 U.S.C. 1078-11(g)). If enacted, the federal ban on knowingly possessing a firearm in a school zone would cover these programs. Families, staff, and children in these programs would have expanded federal protections. People who knowingly bring guns into these places would face federal criminal penalties. The bill does not create new funding or change enforcement rules.
