Temporary cemetery grants to help veterans
If enacted, this bill would let groups that receive Veterans Legacy Program grants use that money to help the VA locate unclaimed or abandoned human remains suspected to be veterans. They would also be able to help check whether the remains are veterans and arrange burial in a national cemetery. This authorization would start on the date of enactment and end on the last day of the second fiscal year after that date. Money used for these tasks would have to come from the program's existing budget and could not be requested as extra funding in the President's annual budget.
