Government would study AI for grid reliability
This bill would require the Secretary of Energy to assess how artificial intelligence and high‑performance computing can improve the large power grid. The assessment would begin within 90 days of enactment and be done with FERC and the Electric Reliability Organization. It would review probabilistic operating methods, ways to speed generator and load interconnection studies, current uses and adoption levels, and technical, regulatory, cybersecurity, or operational limits. Within one year of enactment, the Secretary would send a report to the House Energy and Commerce and Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committees with recommendations to remove limits and help adoption and integration. This section would not create new funding by itself.
