- Veterans: Veterans receiving care at VA facilities would be screened with advanced imaging aimed at identifying lung disease earlier.
- VA operations and oversight: The VA would be allowed to lease FDA‑approved 4D imaging software from developers under agreements that end 5 years after enactment and must submit a report to Congress within 2 years after that expiration.
- Developers and research: Companies with FDA‑approved 4D lung imaging products could lease their software to the VA and have their tools evaluated in real-world VA clinical settings.

New lung imaging pilot for veterans
This bill would create a VA pilot to use FDA‑approved four‑dimensional (4D) functional lung imaging software to help identify respiratory disorders in veterans who get VA medical services. If you get care at a VA facility, you would be able to receive this new lung imaging when the pilot is used at that site. The VA would seek to lease the eligible software from developers, and that lease authority would expire five years after enactment. Congress would be authorized to appropriate $5,000,000 for each fiscal year from 2027 through 2031, and the VA would have to report to Congress on pilot effectiveness within two years after that lease authority expires.
