In Committee
Summary
Eliminate the time limitation on using Post-9/11 Educational Assistance benefits. This bill would amend 38 U.S.C. 3321(a) by replacing the dates that created an expiration so entitlements under the Post-9/11 program no longer lapse on the former deadline. The change lets veterans who qualify for Post-9/11 benefits use their education entitlement without that prior time cutoff.

Remove time limit on GI Bill
If enacted, this bill would remove the time limit on using Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits. It would change two date references from January 1, 2013 to January 1, 2001 in 38 U.S.C. 3321(a). Veterans, dependents, and transferees with unused Post-9/11 entitlement could use those benefits under this change. The program is administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The change would take effect upon enactment.
