Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Sloan Canyon protected area grows by 9,290 acres

The law expands the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area from 48,438 acres to 57,728 acres. It replaces the official map with the "Proposed Sloan Canyon Expansion" dated May 20, 2024. The expansion keeps valid existing rights, including approved utility corridors. Utilities in those corridors can keep running, be maintained, repaired, and replaced. Interior may allow new utility rights-of-way inside existing corridors after environmental review.

Water pipeline rights for Southern Nevada

The law requires Interior to grant the Southern Nevada Water Authority rights-of-way for a water pipeline within 1 year. The grant can be temporary or permanent and does not require rent or other charges. It allows geotechnical tests and the building and operation of the pipeline and related facilities. Power lines, facilities, and access roads must be outside the Conservation Area. The Authority can excavate and use or dispose of tunnel materials; within 30 days after the grant, Interior and the Authority must sign an MOU naming federal land for disposal. The route cannot pass through designated wilderness, and construction cannot permanently harm surface resources in the Conservation Area.
