Sponsored By: Representative Kamlager-Dove, Sydney [D-CA-37]
Introduced
Summary
Extends the federal conflict-of-interest ban to the judicial branch. This bill would explicitly make Federal judges and Supreme Court justices subject to 18 U.S.C. §208 and create a narrow, public regulatory waiver handled by the Judicial Conference for interests judged too remote or inconsequential.

New conflict rules for judges
This bill would make the federal conflict-of-interest ban apply to the judicial branch, including federal judges and Supreme Court justices. It would let the Judicial Conference adopt rules, after public notice and comment, to exempt financial interests that are too remote or too inconsequential to affect judicial integrity. Those exemption rules would apply to all officers and employees of the judiciary. If enacted, the changes would take effect upon enactment.
