In-state tuition for Selected Reservists
Public colleges must charge you the in-state rate to keep VA approval if you use the Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (10 U.S.C. chapter 1606) or are entitled under 10 U.S.C. §16131. The VA can disapprove courses at public schools that try to bill you out-of-state tuition. The law is in effect now. The tuition rule applies to academic terms that begin on or after August 1, 2026. It covers only public colleges and only if you meet the chapter 1606 or §16131 rules.
