HEALTH Act
Sponsored By: Representative Davidson, Warren [R-OH-8]
Introduced
Summary
Creates a standing House Committee on Health. It would centralize responsibility for biomedical research and development, health care funded by general revenues, and public health and quarantine under one House panel instead of scattering those topics across other committees.

- Members of Congress: Lawmakers would get a dedicated committee to write and oversee bills on biomedical research, the Food and Drug Administration, and public health, making health policy work more concentrated.
- Federal agencies and programs: The new committee would handle legislation and oversight related to the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other public‑health matters.
- Other House committees: The Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Energy and Commerce would lose specified health jurisdiction, shifting which panels manage health legislation.

New House Committee on Health
If adopted, the resolution would add a new standing "Committee on Health" to the House Rules. The new committee would cover biomedical research and development (including the Food and Drug Administration), health and health facilities supported by general revenues (but not veterans' hospitals or veterans' medical care), and public health and quarantine (including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). The resolution would also change other House rules: it would except health insurance programs from Education and the Workforce's general jurisdiction, and it would remove three listed subparts from Energy and Commerce and renumber the rest. These are internal House rule changes that would shift which committee leads future health oversight and lawmaking; any effects on your care, costs, or taxes would come later if Congress or agencies act.
