Sponsored By: Representative Adams, Alma S. [D-NC-12]
Introduced
Summary
Honoring the Greensboro Four as catalysts of the student civil rights sit-ins. This resolution would mark February 1, 2026 as the 66th anniversary of the 1960 Woolworth sit-in, name Joseph McNeil, Jibreel Khazan (formerly Ezell Blair, Jr.), Franklin McCain, and David Richmond, recall that female students from Bennett College and Greensboro Women’s College joined the protest, note the sit-ins spread to over 700,000 participants and led to more than 3,000 arrests while remaining peaceful for six months, record that the Woolworth lunch counter was integrated on July 26, 1960, recognize the value of racial and ethnic diversity, and encourage states to teach the Greensboro Four in school curricula.
