Summary
Recognize and honor the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. This resolution would commend fasting, worship, charity, and spiritual renewal during Ramadan and extend best wishes to Muslims observing Eid al-Fitr. It notes Ramadan began on February 17, 2026 based on crescent moon sightings and that Eid al-Fitr is a three-day celebration that begins with the new moon. The text cites about 2.0 billion Muslims worldwide, roughly 2.2 million Muslim voters in the United States, more than 200 elected officials who identify as Muslim, and over 5,896 Muslims on active duty plus about 2,300 in the Selected Reserve. It highlights American Muslims' contributions to medicine, science, engineering, education, law, sports, and economics and expresses solidarity and respect for Muslim communities in the United States and around the world.
