This resolution would designate February 1 as Blue Star Mother's Day. It honors members of Blue Star Mothers of America and recognizes their role supporting one another and service members and veterans. Blue Star Mothers were founded in 1942, held a first meeting of 300 mothers on February 1, and now have 198 active chapters. They pack care packages, assist homeless and wounded veterans, visit hospitalized veterans, and honor fallen service members.
