Recognizing the contributions of academic medicine and observing Academic Medicine Week from June 8 through 12, 2026.

Designating June 8–12, 2026 as Academic Medicine Week would formally recognize the role of medical schools, teaching hospitals, and academic health systems in training clinicians, advancing medical research, delivering complex patient care, and partnering with communities. The resolution highlights the Association of American Medical Colleges network of nearly 500 academic health systems and teaching hospitals and 163 medical schools, notes that AAMC members conduct about 60 percent of National Institutes of Health extramural research, cites a roughly $728 billion economic footprint and support for 7.1 million jobs, and urges continued federal support for workforce programs like HRSA Title VII and Title VIII.
