Recognizing the importance of pollinators to ecosystem health and agriculture in the United States and expressing support for "National Pollinator Week".

Sponsored By: Representative Panetta, Jimmy [D-CA-19]

In Committee

Summary

The importance of pollinators to U.S. agriculture and ecosystems. This resolution would recognize that native bees, butterflies and moths, birds and bats, and beetles help reproduce about 80% of flowering plants and add more than $18 billion to U.S. crop production each year. It would note steep declines in some species, including the Western monarch's roughly 99% drop and more than 70 native pollinators listed as threatened or endangered, express support for National Pollinator Week, and encourage conservation and public education to protect pollinator populations and habitats.
