Sponsored By: Representative Pocan, Mark [D-WI-2]
Introduced
Summary
Designates October 10, 2026 as National PrEP Day to raise awareness and expand access to HIV prevention. It would note that pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, can cut the risk of sexual HIV transmission by more than 99 percent when taken as prescribed and it would urge federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial public health agencies, health care providers, insurers, community organizations, and others to promote PrEP, reduce barriers like cost and stigma, and support telehealth and national PrEP programs.
