Recognizing the Dominican community's presence and contributions to Washington Heights and Inwood.
Sponsored By: Representative Espaillat, Adriano [D-NY-13]
Introduced
Summary
This resolution would support the designation of a noncontiguous _Dominican cultural heritage district_ in Washington Heights and Inwood under the National Park Service to recognize and celebrate the community's contributions. It would formally honor Dominican-American elected officials, artists, writers, small business and bodega owners, and other community leaders; back efforts to preserve historic buildings and districts; and commit to fighting displacement and gentrification that threaten the neighborhood's history.
