Sponsored By: Representative Beatty, Joyce [D-OH-3]

Introduced

Summary

Promote financial literacy through a national observance. This resolution would declare support for Financial Literacy Month and call on the federal government, states, localities, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and the public to hold programs that improve understanding of money, credit, and debt. It cites that 14.2 percent of households are unbanked or underbanked (about 19 million), only 42 percent of adults keep a budget, 32 percent could not cover a $400 emergency without borrowing, household debt totals about $18.0 trillion, and many states do not require personal finance in high school.
