Expressing support for the designation of May 2, 2025, as "NKH Awareness Day".
Sponsored By: Representative Vindman, Eugene Simon [D-VA-7]
Introduced
Summary
Would designate May 2, 2025 as NKH Awareness Day to raise public and medical awareness of nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH). The resolution would define NKH as a rare genetic metabolic disorder marked by abnormally high glycine and two forms, note that most children with NKH do not reach typical developmental milestones, state an estimated prevalence of about 1 in 76,000 worldwide with roughly 500 diagnosed cases globally and four known patients in Virginia, and say increased awareness could lead to more research, registry participation, and diagnoses.
