Supporting the goals and ideals of "National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day".

This resolution would prioritize the health and rights of LGBTQI+ older adults. It would express support for National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day and urge federal, state, local, nonprofit, school, and community action to observe the day and raise public awareness of the unique challenges facing LGBTQI+ elders. It would encourage health care providers to offer culturally and clinically competent care and ask governments and international funders to center LGBTQI+ elders in health and human rights work. The resolution cites a projected population of about 7 million LGBTQI+ adults aged 50 and over by 2030 and notes higher rates of poverty, homelessness, social isolation, poor physical and mental health, and HIV among older LGBTQI+ people.
