Mandatory workplace rights training for House Members and staff
The House requires every Member, officer, and employee to finish workplace rights training each session. The training covers rights under the Congressional Accountability Act, including anti-discrimination and anti-harassment. Interns, unpaid interns, fellows, and detailees count as employees for this rule. The Committee on House Administration issues rules within 30 days and requires a certificate of completion. If you are serving when the Committee certifies the program for a session, you must complete it and file a certificate within 90 days of that certification. New Members or staff must finish and file within 90 days of their start date. If you completed the training during new Member orientation before a Congress begins, you do not repeat it in the first session. For the first session of the 119th Congress, those already serving must complete it within 90 days after adoption. The Committee may set different deadlines for short-term interns, fellows, and late starters, and may add compliance steps.
