Sponsored By: Representative Torres, Norma J. [D-CA-35]
Introduced
Summary
Strengthening ties between communities and local law enforcement is the main goal of this resolution, which would recognize National Night Out as a national event to unite Americans and promote public safety on the first Tuesday in August. It would encourage law enforcement to use the event to build relationships and ask public safety agencies to explain how to contact 911 and how they serve communities, and it notes participation by over 38 million neighbors in more than 17,000 communities over 40 years, including U.S. territories and military bases.
