Sponsored By: Representative Cleaver, Emanuel [D-MO-5]

Introduced

Summary

National Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Awareness Month would be designated for September 2025 to boost public understanding and encourage research, education, and patient support. PKD is a progressive genetic disorder that damages the kidneys and other organ systems and affects about 600,000 people in the United States. Almost 50 percent of people with PKD experience kidney failure by age 60, and there are few treatments and no cure. About 10 percent of cases arise from spontaneous mutations. The resolution highlights the PKD Foundation and its more than 35,000 patient and family advocates and encourages people and groups to hold activities and ceremonies to raise awareness and foster understanding of PKD.
