Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp in Nazi-occupied Poland and International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Sponsored By: Representative Meng, Grace [D-NY-6]
Introduced
Summary
Remembering Auschwitz and the Holocaust. This resolution would call on Americans to remember the roughly 1.1 million people murdered at Auschwitz, the 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust, and all victims of Nazi terror. It would honor Holocaust and Auschwitz survivors, note that about 220,000 survivors remain, recall that Auschwitz received roughly 1.3 million deportees and that at least 960,000 of those murdered were Jewish, and urge continued efforts to end genocide, persecution, and anti-Semitism in light of over 10,000 recent anti‑Semitic incidents and a 63% FBI-reported rise from 2022 to 2023.
