Sponsored By: Representative Waters, Maxine [D-CA-43]

Introduced

Summary

Honors the National Council of Negro Women’s 90 years of leadership for Black women and their communities. It would note NCNW’s founding in 1935 by Mary McLeod Bethune, credit Dr. Dorothy Irene Height’s 42-year presidency for expanding its national infrastructure, highlight signature efforts such as the Black Family Reunion, economic empowerment, community health, STEM education, and leadership development for girls, cite a network of more than 2 million women and 330 affiliate organizations and its historic Pennsylvania Avenue headquarters, and call on Americans to celebrate NCNW’s ongoing civic leadership under President and CEO Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley.
