Annual Treasury report on China investments
If enacted, the Treasury would send Congress a report on portfolio investments by U.S. persons in the People's Republic of China. The first report would be due within one year and would cover January 1, 2008 through the report date. Treasury would send a report every year after that covering the prior 12 months. The report would include investments routed through other countries. It would identify the types of U.S. investors, including state pension funds and any U.S. person that made more than 2 percent of those investments in a year. It would list Chinese recipients by sector, including housing, note any that are under U.S. sanctions, and identify Chinese entities that received more than $100,000,000. This excerpt does not create new funding or penalties.
